The common
mistaken goals of having smart kinds are as opportunities to show off or as
investment/retirement plan for the parents. But actually there are more
advantages of having smart kids:
- Better emotional control, kids
with better cognitive brain tends to have better emotional brain also
(since both functions operate in the same hardware). Kids with better
emotional control cost less energy to manage. A smart kid also tends to have better empathy and self-control/self-discipline.
- Better reasoning. For example if your child is nagging about getting
candies, he will lessen his nagging as you explain to him that too much
sweet is not healthy.
- Jokes. Smart kids are capable
to make jokes (that demand higher abstract thinking and language skills),
bring more fun to the family.
- A smart kid can express his
feelings in words better. It brings happiness to the parents to hear lovely comments express beautifully by
their sweetheart.
- Early family fun, for example
how earlier your child can skiing or playing music, how earlier you can
enjoy family fun together (e.g. skiing together, family music band etc.)
- Some smart kids are more calm
(e.g. prefer reading books or practicing piano for hours thus giving more
rest time for their parents). Bur some kids can be very wild with active
imaginations and demand his parents to assist/teach him frequently (e.g.
lego, crafts projects, sport practices).
- Better safety. For example some
babies can differentiate the small stuffs that he found on the floor with
food, reducing choking risk. Nevertheless be careful that a smart kind can
still have unreliable self-control, so having a smart kid doesn't mean
that you don't need to baby proof your home nor watch him while crossing
the streets, playing nearby water, skiing alone, etc. Smart kids know also
how to call emergency numbers and to communicate the necessary information
to the operator.
- Helper for parents. A smart kid
can help with chores (e.g. do the dishes, clean the garden) earlier than
other child. A kid with observation & memory skills can help his
parents to find things at home. A smart kid can be handy as a human
calculator for example to compare prices during shopping... lol
